3 Ways to Grow Your Business during the Holiday Season

If you are wanting to get your business off to a strong start or have decided to start your business back up, the last few months of the year are the best time to jump in!!   There are three things you can do that will get your business up and running.

 

1. Host a shopping event at your house. 

The holiday season is the prime time where people are going to be purchasing gifts, so why not take this as an advantage for your business and have them purchase from you?! Keep it simple but make it fun!  Have a theme with yummy munchies and drinks. Offer special discounts and do some really fun giveaways for anyone that hosts a party. Remember, this is also a time to give back to your customers!

 

2. Look for vendor events/trade shows in your area. 

They are everywhere during the holiday selling season!! People are out looking for great gifts for the holidays and in a party mood. Make sure to have a fun and inviting looking booth set up. Have some cute gift bags or wrapped baskets out for everyone that books a party with you. Do a little shopping yourself.  There are SO many great things at Holiday boutiques!


3. Book lots of parties by reaching out. 

Believe it or not…this is the time to party!!  People are in a party mood. They are going to see their friends for social gatherings in the Fall.  Why not be the person to reach out with a fun theme idea for them to host?  I love parties with apple cider, Christmas tea, cookie exchange, and the best are Favorite things parties where I do lots of giveaways like Oprah’s Favorite Things show used to do!

Hostess Coaching Tips & Tricks for Direct Sales Consultants

One of the most important aspects of having a successful party is to work with your hostess. Setting your hostess up for success is just as important to your business as your sales. Effective hostess coaching is how you are able to do this.

Before we dive into hostess coaching, I want to encourage you to always be thinking about asking someone to host a party. Here’s why: would you rather have one sale with just one person or have a party with 8-10 sales? I think you know the answer here. So ask every. single. person. you know if they’re interested in hosting a party and let THEM decide. I bet you will be surprised who says yes!

Now, let’s say someone responds to you with a YES! What’s your next step? It all starts with a strong strategic plan, communication, and open partnership with your hostess.Here are a few tips and tricks:

1. Secure the date

People are busy but we can help them find the time. It is so important to give them 3-4 dates in order to limit their choices and eventually help them make a decision right on the spot. You don’t want to tell your hostess your whole month is open and ask them to pick a date. Not only it is overwhelming for them, but it is more likely they won’t be able to make a decision right away.

2. Set clear expectations

From party planning to preferred communication method, set clear expectations so that you and your hostess are both on the same page and not confused with all the details and responsibilities. Are you going to be handling all the behind the senses such as party set up and invites? Is your hostess going to be the one who gets everyone excited about the party and share on social media? Discuss these little details with your hostess.

3. Keep the momentum

While we can’t keep our parties from cancelling because things happen, there are a few ways that can help us to have less cancellation.

(1) People book you because they like you. They’re less likely to cancel if you connect with them in a more relational way and make them feel supported and cared for.

(2) Send out invitations and get the event details up on social media immediately after they’ve confirmed. Momentum is everything. If there are 10 people signed up for your event on the first day, chances are you’re going to do it!

(3) So often, your hostess cancels because they are afraid they will let you down. Ask questions and think of other creative ways to help your hostess succeed. E.g, A free gift for anyone who brings a friend.

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and no matter how you feel about the holiday, we can agree that it’s always a good time to show someone you care about them. That includes your significant other, your children, extended family and friends…and yes, those who support your business!

Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to reach out to your customers, hostesses, your online communities, and those who have referred you to others.

Here are some fun ways to celebrate your customers during Valentine’s Day:

1. Send a Heartfelt THANK YOU email.
Simple, right? Sometimes just telling other’s you appreciate them and showing gratitude is the BEST option. Making it personal by sending them direct communication (an email, a private message, etc.) just takes that level of care up a notch.

2. Send a FREE Printable!
For your customers and hostesses that are Moms, chances are they’re busy. By sending them a cute, easy, but unique Valentine’s Day printable takes something off their (long) to do list! You can find a ton of these on Pinterest! Here’s a link to a board where I’ve already stashed some of my favorites, just for you!

3. Offer a Wishlist Service
Using Google Docs or a similar program, have your customers fill out their very own wishlist. Then email them a fun poem, or meme that has your contact information on it. All they have to do is forward to their spouse and you can take care of the rest!

4. Offer a Discount
Everyone loves to save! Choose a few items that you LOVE and offer those at a discount. Or better yet, let them choose the item they LOVE the best to make it even more special.

5. Leave Them LOVE notes on Social Media!
This will be a BIG HIT for your customers whose Love Language is Words of Affirmation. Leave them a post on their wall sharing something simple you love about them. It’s the perfect pick-me-up and you just might change their whole day!

Time Management For Work At Home Moms

Time management is a subject I’m asked about often. When I started my direct sales business over 9 years ago, I had all 3 of my children at home. Today, my youngest is in college, my oldest daughter is getting married, and my son is thriving. They don’t need me in the same way they did when I started my business, but they need me in different ways. I still have to manage my time, prioritize what matters, and make sure I’m consistently doing those income producing activities that will grow my business.

So how do I do it? With planning!

I’m a huge fan of calendar blocking. Did you know the actions I take to book parties, recruit new team members, chat with my leaders and team members…all those things are on my calendar so I don’t forget. Not only that, so many of those actions take only 15 minutes a few times a week.

That’s the thing about this business, it doesn’t have to take up a lot of your time. You only have to plan for it, make it a priority and do it consistently. The bookings will come. The new team members will come. And the best part— your family will be better for it! It’s so important to me that when my husband comes home, or my daughter wants to do wedding planning activities, that I can just go do it without sacrificing what I need for my business.

The best part of this business is the flexibility, but just because we’re flexible does not mean our business is optional! I talked a little bit about time management in a recent podcast with my new friend Tricia Edmundson, a top-level leader with Thirty-One Gifts. Like us, she has figured out how to achieve great harmony between her marriage, her children, and her business.

When you get to that place, everything just seems to click! So here are some of my best tips on time management.

Launch Parties Are The Key To Starting A Successful Direct Sales Business

You guys…having a Direct Sales business isn’t hard.

I think they’re a lot of things that qualify as “hard” in life, and getting to meet new people, sell products that you love, and help others be able to add an additional stream of income to their family doesn’t qualify.

But, I know that as human beings we tend to overthink thing and make them more complicated than they have to be as we worry about all the “what-ifs”.
